Suicide Squad review
Torch writers review the movie Suicide Squad
Suicide squad is a movie that takes place in the DC universe. This particular movie put a unique angle on, “the bad guys,” by making them the heroes of the story. These so called heroes are Deadshot, played by Will Smith, Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie, Joker played by Jared Leto, Enchantress played by Cara Delevingne, Captain Boomerang played by Jai Courtney, The Killer Croc played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and finally, the bad guy gone good, El Diablo, who is played by Jay Hernandez.
This movie is an action packed film. Some people may say it was a bore and just an evil version of Avengers, but I think it was a really intense movie. I can see where the haters come from because the movie script was wasn’t well written. For example, when the Joker jumps from the plane there was no speaking at all. Not even a scream from Harley Quinn. Also, it was extremely hard to stay with the plot line. Even with its flaws, it is still a great movie. The best part is when the helicopter blew up. Although I enjoyed the movie, many of the characters weren’t well explained, (the exception of Harley Quinn and the Joker). In this case, a non-comic fan would be confused throughout the movie and that’s why I’m here to help.
The first vague character, Deadshot. In 1950, Deadshot made his first appearance in Batman #59. His family was the most wealthy and powerful in their town. He had a mother, father and brother named Eddie. Eddie was the perfect child and the favorite of the parents. While Floyd, was the problem child and disliked by his parents, but mainly his father. His father abused him when he was young. Since he and his family were sick of his evil ways, his mother convinced him to kill his father. So Floyd went into his tree house and shot his gun to kill his father. He missed his father and accidentally killed his brother instead and from that day forward he swore he would never miss a shot again.
Captain Boomerang’s great story begins in Flash volume 1 #117 in December 1960. His story starts in the town of Korumburra, Australia. He lived in poverty most of his life. His abusive stepfather was an American soldier and his mother is Australian. Like most villains there childhood was not the greatest. While being a rebellious teen he started making and using boomerangs. After a while he got good, but used them for bad. After being kicked out of his parent’s house for robbing a store, he moved to Central City where he found out who his real father is. His father was a toy maker, who came to America to pursue his dream. While in Central City, he decided to come to work for his father at his company. This is where the infamous Captain Boomerang got his name, while selling boomerangs. It may look like he has swayed away from crime, but this just made him crave it more than ever.
Suicide squad is a great action movie to watch. Even though some people weren’t a fan of the movie, I recommend it to everyone. It keeps the audience entertained throughout the movie and now because of me, the watchers will know even more about the characters.
