Recently, many Minecraft Movie showings have ended early, and tons of people have been kicked out because of the shenanigans that take place during the movie. Some people have even been banned from movie theaters because of the problems they are causing. for instance, some people have painted their faces to look like the Chicken Jockey, some have spilled popcorn all over theaters, and others have brought an actual chicken into the theaters.
A Chicken Jockey is a mob, or monster, from the game Minecraft. It is a baby zombie riding a chicken. In Minecraft, the chicken jockey is an easy mob to beat, but once the chicken is defeated and it’s just the baby zombie, defeating it becomes a whole lot harder. The baby zombie alone is a particularly hard mob to beat because they are small, fast, and they hit very hard. To the Minecraft community, the chicken jockey is an iconic mob, but when the movie was announced, and a chicken jockey was spotted in the trailers, it became even more iconic.
“Chicken Jockey” is a term that is taking over modern-day media. From movie theaters to social media, the term has grown nationally. The term originates from the trailer of “A Minecraft Movie,” where one character, Garrett, is put into a fighting ring with a chicken jockey.
It is speculated that all of the “Chicken Jockey drama” came from the Minecraft movie where Jack Black yells “Chicken Jockey!” As the time from the release of that trailer went on, the term “Chicken Jockey” went viral across many social media platforms, as many trends do. It became a Gen Z/Gen Alpha slang term. Though “Chicken Jockey” is by far the largest growing and most popular clip from the Minecraft Movie, there are many more, including but not limited to: “The Nether,” “Flint-n-Steel,” “l-l-lava c-c-chicken,” and “Ender Pearl.”
Chicken Jockey has affected Millions of people, including an eighth grader, Gus Gibbs, who says, “It allows some funny moments,” while another eighth grader, Mackston Conway, remarks, “It doesn’t really affect me, though I say it daily.” Many students say that it doesn’t affect them, though chances are that they also use the term, and even though it doesn’t affect them anymore, it could affect people and cause them to say it too.
This term shows the lengths people will go to in order to be funny. The term also shows how fast slang can spread among the younger generations, and how they think it doesn’t even affect them, but they use it every day. In the future, this trend and slang term is probably just a fad, and is only a second-long clip from A Minecraft Movie.
