The giving tree
This year’s giving tree includes a few different changes from previous years. Instead of just 1-2 weeks, it will occur for 3 school weeks from December 10th- January 4th. Extending it a week past winter break will allow people to collect unwanted items after the holidays or to take advantage of the after-Christmas sales. Student council will be collecting new hygiene items and school supplies for the Hope Coalition, money for the Cannon Falls food shelf, and lightly used clothing to be donated to a second-hand organization. All donations can be dropped off anytime near the high school office in the large gray bin. The council is still determining a prize for the final week if the school reaches a goal of 1,000 items.
“We put in a lot of hard work for setting up the giving tree and it would be nice to see it all pay off”, said Nathan Van Zuilen, president of student council. Spread the word, bring in any old clothing items, collect extra school supplies, or take a quick trip to the dollar store to give this holiday season!
