Three meets into the season, Cannon Falls Track and Field has had a lot of success going through the first half of the season. In both of their home meets, Cannon Falls has placed first in both men’s and women’s as a team, as well as the men placing second in the first meet and the women placing fourth.
Coach Zimmerman is very excited about where the team stands going into May. He says that championship caliber meets are coming, most notably the True Team meet in Rushford-Peterson on May 5th, and the HVL Conference Meet on May 9th.
Additionally, Zimmerman stressed how hopeful he is of people making it to state as he mentioned many names that had the potential to go far this year. Some of those names strikingly included eighth grade girls running on varsity.
Assuredly, Cannon Falls Track in Field is in a great place where they are now, but things still need to be fine tuned if a State run is in the future for some individuals. The Bombers only had two people make it to State last year: Madi Jeppeson in the High Jump and Blake Johnson in the 1600 Meter, but others have high potential.
State is barely under a month away so those fine tunings do have time to come to fruition. Cannon Falls will compete in Plainview-Elgin-Milville on May 20th in the Section 3A meet and a chance to make the Section Meet, which will be on May 26th and 28th in Triton. If any Bomber athletes make it to State, they will compete on June 4th and 5th at St. Michael Albertville High School.
