Tanner Carlson eyes his opponent

Tanner Carlson, a senior, is a three-sport student-athlete here at Cannon Falls High School. It all started in the fall of the new school year for Tanner, who was selected to be a captain on the Bomber football team this season. At the conclusion of the football season, the cleats get put away and the basketball shoes get taken out. The first two weeks of the basketball season passed, and it was time for Coach Davisson to select his two captains.  For the second year in a row, he selected Tanner Carlson to be one of his two captains. This basketball season, Tanner averaged 16.25 points, five assists, and four rebounds per game. He achieved the 16 points per game mark while shooting 45% on two point shots and 44% on three point shots. Not only has he reached this level of success, he was also praised from his coach, Josh Davisson, who stated “Tanner Carlson is a very competitive, hard working kid that will give you one hundred percent, one hundred percent of the time.”

Following the first playoff game of the 2015-2016 season, local sports writer for the Republican Eagle, Joe Brown also sang Carlson’s praises, writing the following: “Wish I would have seen Tanner Carlson some more this year. Kid busts his tail and makes plays everywhere for the Bombers.”  In regard to the basketball season, Tanner said “it was great making memories with the boys.” Although their playoff run came to a tough end, it is safe to say that the memories that they made together will last them a lifetime.  However, for Carlson, the end of one season simply marks the beginning of another.  This spring he has begun playing baseball, the final of the three sports he competes in for the Bombers.  After graduation, Tanner will be attending St. John’s University and be playing basketball at the Division III level.
