Bomber Volleyball team celebrates another victory at home

The Cannon Falls high school varsity volleyball team wrapped up their 2013 season Saturday, October 21. Advancing to the second round of playoffs at the Civic Center, the Bombers lost in straight sets to Kasson-Mantorville, but each match was close in score. Madasyn Hofstedt, captain along with Carly Broze and Becca Vandenhuevel, exclaimed that “our team was only a couple of points down by the end of each match!” Hofstedt specifically remembers ending with a twenty-four to twenty-six loss.

Though the Bombers ended their season early then they would have liked, the overall season appears to be a win. “It was a pretty good season because we grew closer as a team and learned a lot about the game,” Hofstedt says. The varsity team was also invited to play in the prestigious Burnsville tournament, which was indeed an honor to them. Prior to the season, the players attended camps as a team which helped the players advance in their skills, while contributing to their knowledge of the game. Hofstead also says the team would like “to thank fans for being supportive” and attending each game in their wacky costumes and get-ups for dress up nights. The Bombers ended the season with a 18-10-2 record (10-2 in the conference).
