On Wednesday, October 9th, in honor of National Walk to School Day, there will be a group walk to school in Cannon Falls. Those who are interested should meet at the city parking lot at 7:15 in the morning. This is located across the street from the grocery store in town, but a safe bet is to go where a large group of people, including students and staff, is. The group plans to leave at 7:20. Google Maps estimates a trip of about 26 minutes from the lot to the school (assuming a route that does not go through the stoplight) or a 27-minute journey that goes through the stoplight, which lands the arrival time to school at about 7:50 at the latest.

Conditions are looking brisk for the trek, however. The Weather Channel predicts a sunrise of 7:19, which is about the time of departure. Also expected is a wind of 4 mph from the east, or a breeze going into the faces of the walkers. The temperature will probably be around 44°F, but it may feel as low as 42 with the wind.
