Winter formal is a welcome break from finals

Fancy dresses, bow ties, and dancing will fill the atrium on Saturday, January 20th from 8-11 pm. All high schoolers, freshmen through seniors, are welcome to purchase a ticket for the annual winter formal put on by the Cannon Falls Student Council. Council members will spend a couple hours at school around noon on Saturday to put up the decorations that will add to the atmosphere. This year’s theme is northern lights which will feature colored lights and a mystical entrance. A photoshoot will be set up for anyone at the dance with some of the Lantern’s photographers taking pictures which will be posted on the Lantern website for people to have. This week, Monday-Friday, dance tickets will be sold at the high school lunches for $5. Tickets will be bumped up to $10 at the door, encouraging students to buy in advance. All proceeds will go to the Special Olympics in which the council is raising money for to participate in the Polar Plunge in Rochester on February 9th. Students will have a spectacular night dancing under the colorful northern lights of the atrium.
