Kaly Banks steers the ball toward the goal

With 3 weeks left in their season, the girls soccer team has already broken their previous win record. The girls had never won more than 1 game in a season, but with almost a month remaining the team has tripled that statistic. Their record so far is 3 wins, 5 losses, and 1 tie.

This year is also memorable due to its being the first year with a new coaching staff. Head Coach Josh Banks who took over the program this fall, and with more wins than ever, it’s safe to say he’s proven himself to be a great fit for the team. Assistant Coach Zach Dockter comments “I think the team has been doing great for how young of a team we have. I would say this is the best season the girls have had since the program started 3 years ago. The girls really have come a long way since week one and have improved so much.”

Although their success can be attributed to a combination of fantastic coaching, excellent teamwork and plenty of hard work, it’s also safe to say that having a goalie contesting to be the best in Minnesota has helped the team out too. Sophomore, Mari Mendivil, is currently ranked 5th in the state as of September 22nd, 2016.

With a new head coach, a top 5 goalie, and more wins than ever, the Girls Bomber Soccer Team has no shortage of reasons to consider this year history in the making.
