Get ready to get served! One of the most overlooked fall sports is tennis, and here at Cannon Falls that is often the case. This year was different though as the team made quite-a-bit of racket on their way to a 2nd place finish in the section. Led by captains Bethany Nelson and Delanie Otto the Bomber Tennis Team found themselves facing some adversity at the beginning of the year as they had 5 seniors graduate in the class of 2016. If someone thought that it would hinder the girls’ season, guess again!

Although a very young team, the girls managed to go just as far this year as they did last. Finishing with a team record of 13 wins and 7 losses the young Bombers showed great potential. When asked about the season, senior captain Bethany Nelson stated “It was really awesome that sophomore Paige Meist got into the 20-win club this year. As a team, making sections in back-to-back seasons even though we lost 5 seniors was awesome too.”

After the season had ended for the Bomber Tennis Team, the season continued for Taylor Jackson, Delanie Otto, Bethany Nelson, and Molly Rolfes who played doubles during individual sections. The team of Nelson and Rolfes tied for 5th and Otto and Jackson placed 4th out of 15 teams. When asked about the season as it came to a close, senior captain Delanie Otto said “This year the tennis team had a great season. We were a young team, but we were able to pull out a second place finish in sections ending the season with a 13-7 record. Hopefully in the future more girls will decide to join because it’s a great sport with a great group of girls.”
