The most beloved dance of the school year took place on March 17th this year, which also happened to be on a Friday, and St. Patrick’s day. Needless to say, the students’ spirits were high. Perched along the parameter of the gymnasium were black lights that made anything white or neon colored glow to life, so students wear comfortable athletic wear of those colors in order to be seen. This sight, along with english teacher, Ms. Roseman, spinning the tunes, created a lively energy that was easy to succumb to and dance the night away. Morp is put on by the school’s Interact group, led by Ms. Roseman. Thanks to the crowd of students, a total of $642 dollars were raised in dance ticket sales. The Interact club is fortunate enough to own their own equipment and a dynamic DJ like Ms. Roseman to play the music, so all the profit will be used by Interact to organize service projects.

Students breathe a sigh of relief and simultaneously fist pump the air whenever it is announced that Ms. Roseman is willing to DJ. The reason for this boils down to the fact that Ms. Rosemann has some insight into what teenagers like because she works with them everyday. Playing all the requested songs gets a DJ brownie points, so she simply gives the people what they want.

Being at the dance is what she wanted as well, if she hadn’t been DJing she would have been “avoiding the (St. Patrick’s Day) crowds out on the town and probably would have watched Netflix.” Something the students would have possibly been doing as well if it wasn’t for the dance. Small town living means that there isn’t a ton of readily available recreational activities provided for the teenagers of Cannon Falls. That might be why dances are excitedly anticipated nights. School and “letting loose” don’t normally go together, but at dances, they do. Students, and even sometimes chaperoning teachers get their groove on to a mix of the newest top hits and everyone’s favorite classics.
