Bethany and McKenna team up for a return of serve

Sections are over and the Bomber varsity tennis team is winding down. Paul Nordsted, coach of the varsity team, is anticipating a good wrap to a great season. Throughout the season, the team has fought for many of their victories, pulling through with 14 wins and 6 losses. One very memorable match was the game at Stewartville. The game got rained out and there was a huge thunderstorm. The match was rescheduled a week later. This dedicated team is ranked 2nd in the conference and sits 9th in state

Though varsity is still going, JV tennis finished their last match on October 6th against the Stewartville Tigers. They finished out strong with a winning record of 7 wins and 3 losses. The team suffered in numbers with only 2 girls officially on the team. A few varsity players jumped down to help with the insufficiency. This small group of girls were coached by Mackenzie Hanson.

I think what I will miss most is the bond of our team

— McKenna Bauer

Like any team, the Bombers love their seniors and are dreading next season when they depart for their next adventures. The two team captains, Mckenna Bauer and Maddie Adel, have served the team well over the course of the year. The other seniors on the team are Sarah Modrak, Lily French, and Grace Rutter. They have been the heart and soul of the team for years and have only improved with age. “I think what I will miss most is the bond of our team,” reflects Mckenna Bauer. “We are really encouraging to each other and it’s going to be hard  leaving such great girls!” Next year, the team is hoping the more young players will brave racquet.
