A spring in their step

These past few weeks have been full of hard work and success for the Bomber Dance Team.  They’ve been busy with competitions at Fridley, BOLD, Alexandria, and our very own Cannon Falls gyms these past few weekends.  Anyone who hasn’t gotten the chance to see them yet can seize the next opportunity when they take on the section championship on February 6th.

December 12th the girls travelled to the Fridley invitational. After an incredible performance the team was overjoyed to find themselves in first place. On December 19th the Bombers headed off to the BOLD Invitational. They had another great run of their kick dance and performed their jazz routine for the first time this season.  When awards came around, the girls took first in kick and seventh in jazz.

Over winter break the team made many changes to both the choreography and formations of the kick routine.  When the Alexandria Invitational came around on January 9th, the kick team had a blast showing off the new dance, and the jazz girls did fantastic again as well. Kick took second, and jazz took sixth.

Last Saturday the BDT performed on their home gym at the Cannon Falls Invitational.  Home meets never fail to pump the team up, as the roaring noise of the fans cheering over the music boosts adrenaline rushes and accommodates for nothing other than phenomenal performances. “I feel more comfortable performing at home, definitely. There’s a lot of energy at home because there’s a lot of people from around here coming,” comments senior captain Brooke Hogan. “There’s a lot of support coming from the people of Cannon Falls, the community.” Awards proved to be just as exciting, with kick winning first place and jazz taking second.

The dancers came “back for more” a week later at the HVL Conference Championship, which was again hosted in the Cannon Falls High School.  It proved to be another successful evening for the Bombers, with an amazing dance performed for an equally amazing crowd of supporters. Kick placed first, and jazz took third.

If anyone interested in seeing the Bomber Dance Team has neglected to witness the madness so far, the next and possibly last chance to catch them is on February 6th when the team takes on the big Section 2A meet at Bloomington Kennedy when they compete to make it to the state tournament. Come contribute to the commotion and stand among the screaming BDT fans. If the girls can still hear the music, you’re not loud enough!
