Homecoming dance
Just as school was ending Friday, the word quickly spread throughout the students that the football game had been postponed until the following day. This left one more event for Friday that nearly everyone was anticipating: the Homecoming dance. Unique to Cannon Falls, the dance is completely casual with shorts and T-shirts as the most common attire. It was held from 9 pm-midnight in the gym for grades 9-12. The price was raised this year to a whopping $10, leaving many kids in debt to their parents, and themselves, even days later.
A large number of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors attended with many leaving around halfway through. That did not affect the atmosphere, as the remaining students danced the whole night.
The music ranged from 1980s songs, Cotton Eye Joe, slow songs, to pop music. A large variety of music was played, pleasing many students.
“I thought it was really planned out and the music selection was wonderfully laid out and selected,” junior, Tom Sucher, mentions. Next year, the dance will be just as successful as this year, hopefully with a football game beforehand.
