Middle school students get into the act at the pep fest

Monday pep fest

Overwhelming, chaotic, and attempted humor are words to describe the Cannon Falls homecoming pep fest. After the talent show on Monday, October 2nd, the students walked to the high school gym, only to find a bunch of mats on the floor. To start the pep fest, Student Council announced the dress up days, with examples of each. Grant Schlichting, the high school student council president, explained, “This year we decided to have a Google form sent out to decide on the dress up. Our big theme this year is student body participation.” Then, Kaly Banks and Addison Bahr, the hosts for the week, explained the game of Hungry Hippos, which the students later played using garbage cans, helmets, scooters, and the pre-laid mats.

Adam Johnson, a participant of the Hungry Hippos tournament, stated, “I was selected by Addison Bahr, I didn’t even raise my hand.” He went on to say that it was fun and exciting and he would totally do it again. Afterwards the school did chariot racing, the final activity. The first group was the seniors vs sophomores. The seniors would like to say they won because of the “seniors win all games” rule, however they didn’t. The next group was juniors vs freshmen, and the juniors won. The teachers were the final group to go. A couple participants included Tyler Quinlan, Cal Vandehoef, and Jayme Miller. The chariot racing seemed to be the most amusing, chaotic, and the most inventive game seen at any pepfest. This pepfest was cheerful, loud, and one to definitely remember.
