An unprecedented event recently happened at the Cannon Falls H.S. courtyard – an event that hasn’t happened for over twenty years. The Courtyard has been barred from student activity for this period of time, but it has finally been reopened to the Students, or so it seems.

On March 31st, There was a sighting of a student inside the courtyard. The courtyard is the square area of green grass and a few trees in the center of the building that Cannon Falls students have not been allowed into. “It’s really depressing, “ Said one of them, “There is all this lush grass that we could use for science class, but we’re stuck in school. I really feel like I’m losing the vibes, stuck in here with the man.”

When I investigated further and asked a science teacher, he too seemed disappointed. “There’s so much that can be done out there, plant crops, learn how water works, watch lady bugs climb up trees. I’m upset that not all the facilities at Cannon Falls Schools are being used.”

Looking back at the history, twenty years ago there was a fear of kids hurting themselves in the courtyard. “It’s not a very safe place,” An older teacher noted. “It’s a wilderness, a jungle perhaps. Twenty years ago when a student went in, he never came back out.”

This reported sighting of a student in the courtyard has sparked fear in the faculty at Cannon Falls, who wonder how he could have gotten in there. “We like to say we have the highest security in Cannon Falls,” a janitor stated proudly. “However, we were not able to figure out how he got in, all the doors were locked and he didn’t have a key.”

The event is very mystifying, and it seems like the answer will not be found anytime soon. “We may have a security risk on our hands.” Another teacher stated, “Soon, all the students will believe that they can enjoy the courtyard that was built for them to use, and will soon want to use it.”
