On The Rebound
Bomber Boys Basketball Working Through Injuries
January 3, 2014
The Bomber Boys Basketball team started out the year with high hopes, but the team took some big hits with injuries to key players early in the year. Senior guards Hunter Johnson and Jordan Lundell were two crucial casualties. Head Coach Josh Davisson described the injuries as flukes. Davisson said that Johnson’s injury came when he landed on the ground after contesting a shot and Lundell’s came from a funny landing on a jump shot. As bad as these injuries sound, they are actually helping the team come together. Each player had to step up in their own way, and in doing so, they performed better as a team. They defeated Rochester Lourdes and Minnehaha Academy, the reigning class AA state champs and preseason number 1 for AA in the state, and had a close loss at the hands of Maranatha Academy, who were runner-ups in the single A state tournament last year and are considered to be one of the best teams in that class in the state. The team is coming to form just in time for the conference matchups and they are 2-0 in HVL play so far. The Bombers play Byron on Jan. 3, Waseca on the 6th, and Pine Island on the 10th.
