At the end of the regular season, the CFHS Bomber volleyball team finished with an admirable record of 24 wins and 5 losses. This preseason success led to postseason perks as they were given the first seed in Section 1 of the Class AA section playoffs and a home court advantage.
In Round 1 of the tournament, the first-ranked Bombers team swept the seventeenth-ranked team from Blooming Prairie at home in a very decisive three sets with scores of 25-9, 25-14, and 25-20.
After their October 28 win, the Bombers rolled into the quarterfinals, where they played the ninth-ranked Pine Island team at Mayo Arena in Rochester. Reflecting their success against Pine Island earlier in the year, a 3-0 win on October 19, the Bombers swept the October 30 match in three sets once again, with the set scores being 25-18, 25-15, and 25-17.
With another victory in their pockets, the Bombers moved on to the November 4 semifinals where they faced the Lake City Tigers. Moving on to the November 6 championship game, the Bombers faced the Zumbrota-Mazeppa Cougars, the second-ranked team who accounted for one of the Bomber’s mere five losses from the regular season, a September 21 game in which the Cougars ended up taking a very close 5-set match. On the day of the championship game, though, the Cougars proved not to be a problem as the Bombers trounced them in three sets. After a close first game of 25-23, the Cougars lost the next two sets, the scores of which were 25-9 and 25-13.
