The gift that keeps on giving

CFHS students get into the spirit of Christmas

For the second year, the Cannon Falls WeAct group is hosting the Giving Tree. Various items such as, toiletries, gently used books, school supplies, games, toys, clothing, and money donations are welcome. The Giving Tree is set up for donations by the main office. Collections will be donated to local charities. Last year this event was very successful as they gathered 2,400 items. “For being our first year, I thought we did an amazing job with the amount of items we collected,” says Kate Dahlen, one of the WeAct leaders. The group is excited to see how many of students and staff will donate this year. “I look forward to seeing the number of items we collect this year.

Already on the first day, we have raised 94 items. The location we are donating to, Connecting Connections, is very excited to be receiving our items,” Mrs. Dahlen adds. If the school donates 1,000 items students will be rewarded with the last thirty minutes of December 23rd out of class for a holiday dance in the gym. Two thousand items will earn the entire last hour off for the dance. With just 500 more items, Mr. Drucker will color his beard candy cane colors. If a grand total of 3,000 items are donated, Mr. Hodges will dress up as an elf!
