Got Milk?

New milk machine a qualified success.

Charlie Otterness walks into school, and goes to the milk machine. As he tries the dollar, the machine spits it back out. Determined to get his chocolate shake, He runs to a friend and asks for four quarters.

The new milk machine has been a huge success; almost every day it has run out of this delicious substance. Roxanne Sauter, the  machine’s advisor,  goes into further detail. ”We had this machine since the beginning of school, and we were going to put in the paper milk containers, but they didn’t fit, so we bought these plastic milk bottles, and it has been working well. We make no money from the machine – it’s just a way for kids to get the proper amount of milk that they need for their diet.”

Although it is quite an admirable cause, it has its fair share of drawbacks. ”The dollar reader in the machine is broken, so it can’t read the bills, and I have to sit out there at times and make change and take bills for the machine,” says Sauter. “Even though we’ve had these problems, so far it’s a big hit.  At times, halfway through the day the milk machine is completely empty from the kids buying the most popular, the chocolate shake.”

After putting in the quarters, Charlie twists off the cap, and gulps down half of the drink. Hearing the bell, he realizes he only has five minutes until class. Half  walking and half running, he goes to his locker.  Though the machine has slight problems, he’s still glad of his purchase.
