Pinning their hopes on state

After defeating Caledonia 42-29 last Thursday to begin section play, the Bomber wrestlers ended their season against Kasson-Mantorville in the semi-finals with a final of 37-24. Kasson, who would go on to win sections and secure a place in the state tournament, knocked off the Bombers last year as well. “It was sad to see our season end but we gave them a run for their money,” senior Cooper Rohloff said of the loss to Kasson. Though this year ended without the coveted Class AA Section 1 title the Bombers have been striving toward for so long, the season itself was successful. After three consecutive seasons of below .500 records, the Bombers finished 19-7 (7-4 in the conference).image (3)

However, the Bomber wrestlers had a chance to determine when exactly they would turn in their singlets. Individual sections were held this past weekend in Rochester and the Bombers were able to send six wrestlers to state when the last match concluded Saturday evening. Seniors Clay Broze, Derek Johnson, Keston Lopez and Connor Rohr all qualified along with Sophomore Ryan Epps and Randolph native Paul Fitterer. State Wrestling starts this Friday at the Xcel Energy Center.
