Creative Hobbies

From collecting  coins to postage stamps, stuffed animals and hot wheel cars, hobbies sound pretty boring. But, there are students at Cannon Falls Schools who have created unique hobbies.

Erwin Strelow puts his spare time into making rubber carvings of different creatures. One of many carvings is a wolf that is about the size of a DVD case.  To make that carving he has different tools that can be used to carve images into the rubber pieces.  One of the techniques that he uses is cross-hatching, which creates a different texture and gives the wolf’s fur its texture.

James Watson has been collecting daggers from all over the world since his dad went on an out-of-country trip about three years ago.  He told his grandma that he was starting a collection of daggers and when she went to Spain she brought one back for him. Since that trip she has brought him back other daggers as well. Currently, he has five daggers in his collection, and he is always looking for some to add.

These are just two of the many unique hobbies that students at Cannon Falls Schools have.
