Girls state participants in the Minnesota Supreme Court chambers

Megan Bauer, editor-in-chief

Echoing through the halls of American history are leaders young and old, male and female. Their names fill our textbooks and shape our nation, influencing our future because their own past experiences have prepared them to do so. One of the experiences people like Bill Clinton, Mark Wahlberg, Jon Bon Jovi and Nancy Redd all have in common is Girls and Boys State. Together with Girls and Boys Nation, this American Legion/American Legion Auxiliary-sponsored activity features first-hand mock political campaigning, party organization, and government information. Whether interesting in government or not, every attendee leaves the program with new friends and a new respect for the American political system. Tomorrow, April 8, Boys State alumnus Ryan Foster and Girls State/Girls Nation alumnus Megan Bauer will be speaking on this wonderful opportunity to the junior World History classes. Interested juniors are invited to hear more information in the Guidance Office at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 9.
